Masters Programs
A main activity of Co-Me in the field of education has been the successful
establishment of the Masters programs in Biomedical Engineering at ETH Zürich
and University of Bern. Several researchers of our NCCR are participating with
lectures on Co-Me related topics.
The Master course of the University of Bern is offered in cooperation with the
Berne University of Applied Sciences. It is the first time in Switzerland that
graduates from a University of Applied Sciences are able to take university
level master studies without additional prerequisites. Due to the high demand
for continuing education in medical engineering, the courses are also open to
industry professionals. The students can specialize in two focus areas:
Musculoskeletal System and Microsensor and Actuator Technology.
The Masters programme of ETH Zürich offers tracks in the following areas:
Bioimaging, Bioinstrumentation and Signal Processing, Biomechanics and
Molecular Bioengineering.

Annual Research Networking Workshop
The research networking workshop (RNW) is the main annual meeting for the Co-Me
community and provides an excellent opportunity for knowledge exchange. The RNW
allows young researchers to present their achievements to a broad Co-Me
audience and contributes to raise individual experience in congress-like
presentation and discussion technique. A committee of junior scientists is
organizing and managing the event.

Activities at Schools
The NCCR Co-Me promotes the education of young researchers. Co-Me
scientists are regularly participating with lectures and demos at events
like the TechDays at Swiss High Schools.
A short movie on Co-Me PhD student Sveva Ambrosetti and her work was
produced. It provides a success story as an example for a Co-Me device
developed by a female engineer in collaboration with clinicians. The
movie was presented as part of a travelling exhibit and may also be used
for events at schools.
