Edoardo Mazza elected Professor at ETH Zurich

Dezember 22, 2005 ---  Edoardo Mazza, member of Co-Me since 2001 and currently leader of two subprojects, has been appointed to Associate Professor for Mechanics at the Institute for Mechanical Systems at ETH Zurich.

KTI Medtech-Award

November 15, 2005 ---  Co-Me researchers Brigitte von Rechenberg and Stephen Ferguson receive KTI Medtech-Award.

New Master Course in Biomedical Engineering

November 15, 2005 ---  As of the summer semester 2006, the short list of medical engineering education possibilities in Switzerland will be augmented in the canton Berne by a unique master course of studies in Biomedical Engineering.

New member of the Management Commitee

October 3, 2005 ---  Hans-Florian Zeilhofer, professor at the Basel University Hospital, has been elected to the NCCR Co-Me management committee. He is replacing Simon Wildermuth who has has resigned due to his new position as Head of the Radiology Institute at the St. Gallen Hospital.

Prestigious position for Simon Wildermuth

October 3, 2005 ---  Simon Wildermuth, leader of the radiology project Advanced vessel wall analysis, has been elected as new Head of the Institute of Radiology at the Kantonsspital St. Gallen. It is the largest radiology institute of Switzerland. Due to his new position, Simon Wildermuth has decided to resign from his functions as a project leader and member of the management committee of the NCCR Co-Me by end of September.

D. Crottet wins SSBE award

September 8, 2005 ---  Congratulations! Denis Crottet, PhD student working in Bern and Lausanne within the NCCR Co-Me has received the 2005 research award of the Swiss Society for Biomedical Engineering (SSBE). With this prize he is honored for his outstanding achievements during his thesis, entitled A force-sensing device for assistance in soft-tissue balancing during knee surgery. abstract

CAS-H 2005

August 26-27, 2005 ---  The 3rd International Conference on Computer Aided Surgery around the Head (CAS-H) 2005 took place in Berlin under the auspices of the Alfred Krupp von Bohlen und Halbach Foundation, the Charité Medical Centre, and the NCCR Co-Me.

Great Honour for Prof. Davies

July, 2005 ---  Brian Davies, Head of the Scientific Advisory Board of the NCCR Co-Me and Emeritus Professor of Medical Robotics at the Imperial College London, has been elected as new fellow of the Royal Academy of Engineering.

June 19-22, 2005 ---  The 5th Annual Meeting of the International Society for Computer Assisted Orthopaedic Surgery (CAOS-International) was held in Helsinki, Finland.

June 17-18, 2005 ---  The first International Bernd Spiessl-Symposium for innovative and visionary technologies in the field of maxillofacial surgery was held at the Basel University Hospital on June 17th-18th, 2005.

Co-Me Project Leader (#3)
