Strong media interest in TcMRgFUS installation
Patient ready for non-invasive TcMRgFUS neurosurgery (simulation)

The arrival of the first european research prototype of a Transcranial Magnetic Resonance-guided Focused Ultrasound System at the MR-Center of the University Children's Hospital, Zurich on June, 15th was covered by local and national media.

The installation day of the new device turned out to be a thrilling one for Project Leader Prof. Dr. Daniel Jeanmonod, neurosurgent at the Neurosugical Clinic of the University Hospital Zurich an Project Partner Prof. Dr. Ernst Martin, radiologist at the MR-Center of the University Children's Hospital, Zurich due to the strong interest of Swiss print media and TV interviews for the premier national TV-channel SF1 (Tagesschau).

The complex high-tech system built by the israely medtech firm InSightec enables the Co-Me researchers to introduce Transcranial Magnetic Resonance-guided Focused Ultrasound into clinical medicine for neurosurgical treatment of brain diseases. At the Children's Hospital the device will be integrated into a 3.0T MR-system in a clinical setting in order to demonstrate the feasibility of fully non-invasive treatment of functional brain disorders using TcMRgFUS technology.
