The NCCR Co-Me congratulates the General Manager Bert Müller. He
has been elected to chair the first Thomas Straumann Professorship for
Material Science in Medicine at the Medical Faculty of the University
of Basel.
Bert Müller's prime research interests are the 3D-analysis of
biomaterials and tissues as well as the interaction of biological
cells with surfaces. In his new position at the University of Basel he
is going to develop artificial muscles for medical applications.
The new chair for Material Sciences in Medicine was made possible
by an endowment from the Swiss entrepreneur Dr. Thomas Straumann. It
is linked to the research focus "Clinical Morphology and Biomedical
Engineering" at the Medical Faculty of the University of Basel.
