Successful Co-Me Leadership Seminar with Monty Roberts

On September 18, Monty Roberts, known as "the man who listens to horses", gave a leadership seminar exclusively for the Co-Me community at horse stable Staffelegg/AG. He was assisted by Annemarie and Marl van der Toorn who are working together with him. Lectures, video demonstrations and discussions were followed by practical lessons with horses in the round pen.

The following topics were covered by the seminar:

  • non-violent concepts of leadership
  • leadership concepts based on trust
  • concepts suitable for female leaders
  • to learn how to stimulate intrinsic learning and motivation in students
  • tools for approaching problems in a team

Monty Roberts is one of the pioneers of non-violent training techniques for horses. He has taught that his join-up principles have far-reaching applications. People, like horses, perform much better if they are emotionally committed, willing partners rather than obedient participants.

On his join-up corporate courses, leaders develop tools to improve performance and employee engagement through a simple, yet transformative communication process that includes working directly with horses. Monty Roberts has helped over 250 organizations including Volkswagen, Disney, the CIA, Merill Lynch and John Deere learn better, more effective ways to get the best out of others without using pressure tactics.
