Steffen Schumann European Finalist at IEEE EMBS

Co-Me congratulates Steffen Schumann for his recognition by the
IEEE Engineering in Medicine and Biology Society (IEEE EMBS) as
Europe Finalist of its 2008 student competition during the
annual meeting which was held in Vancouver, Canada, August 20-24, 2008.

4th PSSB Course on September 11-13, 2008 in Bern

August 2008 ---
From September 11-13 the 4th Endoscopic Course for Paranasal Sinus and Skull
Base Surgery (PSSB) will take place at the Institute of Anatomy, University of
Bern at the Bühlstrasse 26 in Bern. The PSSB provides an excellent, realistic,
and fruitful learning environment for all participants. Small groups of two
participants will be introduced to different techniques by personal
instructors.

Markus Gross appointed Director of Disney Research at ETH Zurich
|

August 2008 ---
Professor Markus Gross, Head of Computer Graphics Lab at ETH Zurich and
Co-Me project leader, has been appointed Director of the new Disney Research
Lab at ETH Zurich. The lab will be one of two newly-created industrial
laboratories worldwide and the only Disney-related laboratory outside of the
United States.

Awards for two Co-Me scientists

Juli 2008 ---
At the CAOS 2008 Meeting in Hong Kong, two Co-Me PhD students have received
awards: Nina Kozic was honored for her presentation "Assessment of Anatomical
Criteria across Population Using Statistical Shape Models and Level Sets". The
award for the Best Technical Poster Presentation went to Matthias Peterhans for
his work.

Co-Me congratulates Prof. Dr. med Marco Caversaccio. He has received the
"Lifetime Achievement Award 2008 for Excellence in Computer Aided Surgery
around the Head" at the 5th International Conference on Computer Aided Surgery
around the Head in Leipzig, Germany.
