Marco Caversaccio

The NCCR Co-Me congratulates Marco Caversaccio. He has been elected full professor at the Medical Faculty of the University of Bern and Head of the Department of Ears, Nose, Throat, Head and Neck Surgery at the University Hospital Bern.

Marco Caversaccio is a well-known technology expert in the development and implementation of novel surgical techniques and systems in the area of rhinology and otology. Since 2008 he has been co-directing the Bern Center for Computer Aided Surgery within the ARTORG Research Center for Biomedical Engineering Research.

Marco Caversaccio joined the NCCR Co-Me in 2001. His current research project concentrates on the integrated clinical systems for computer-assisted support in ORL surgery involving tissue engineering technologies and smart instrumentation. Precise navigation, size reduction and intra-operative feedback of surgical instruments are explored by the development of a miniature robot and sensor-equipped instruments.
