Lutz Nolte Leads the MedTech Initiative of the CTI
Prof Lutz P. Nolte

Professor Lutz P. Nolte, Co-Director of the NCCR Co-Me, has accepted the position of Head of the MedTech Initiative of the Innovation Promotion Agency (CTI). He is replacing Gilberto Bestetti who has recently stepped down. Lutz P. Nolte is Director of the Institute for Surgical Technology & Biomechanics at the University of Bern and Director of the ARTORG Research Center for Biomedical Engineering Research.

The MedTech Initiative of the CTI plays a key role in strengthening Switzerland's position as a centre of medical engineering. The main goals of the program are to support applied research of public institutions in cooperation with the Swiss medical technology industry, to promote the innovation and competitiveness and to stimulate the transfer of expertise between research labs and MedTech companies.

Since its inception in 1997, the CTI MedTech Initiative has supported 189 research projects with grants. Together with the contributions of the industry partners, this has created investments of 193 million CHF.

The Innovation Promotion Agency CTI

CTI is the Confederation's Innovation Promotion Agency. For the past sixty years, it has fostered knowledge and technology transfer between companies and universities by bringing them together as partners in applied research and development projects. CTI also provides assistance to start-up companies and has an annual budget of approximately 100 million CHF.
