Hans-Florian Zeilhofer (r) and Bernhard Reber, General Manager of the NCCR Co-Me

Co-Me congratulates Professor Dr. med. Dr. med. dent. Dr. h. c. Hans-Florian Zeilhofer. He received the "Lifetime Achievement Award 2009 for Excellence in Computer Aided Surgery around the Head" at the 6th International Conference on Computer Aided Surgery around the Head. The award ceremony took place at the Pasteur Institute in Paris.

Professor Zeilhofer was honored for his outstanding work in the field of cranio-maxillofacial surgery. In addition to his work as head of the Department of Cranio-Maxillofacial Surgery at the University Hospital Basel, he is strongly dedicated to helping children with malformations in developing countries. This includes training programs for medical personnel and the development of sustained partnership among hospitals. He will invest the prize sum of CHF 2,000 into these activities.

Professor Zeilhofer joined the NCCR Co-Me in 2005. His current research project "Patient Specific Intervention Planning in CMF Surgery" aims to create a single integrated console for planning complex facial interventions in cranio-maxillo-facial surgery.
