07/5 Medical consulting (modeling and simulation)
One of the main objectives will be the optimisation of the static and dynamic
MRI acquisition protocols with closed MRI systems in order to reduce the
duration of the acquisition sessions. We will also investigate the use of
open-MRI scanners, to allow a more effective analysis of medically relevant
postures. A key issue is to provide clinically applicable MRI protocols, with
regards to modeling and simulation and scanner availability constraints.
Acquisition protocols in terms of motion patterns and MRI sequences, will be
defined, taking into account software developers, orthopaedists and
radiologists requirements.
Prevention studies targeted to groups of physically active people with
intensive activities such as sport or dance will be performed. These types of
people are candidates for further degeneration of their hip joint. This will
provide data for the modelling, simulation and validation modules. The
diagnosis using the simulation tool will be compared to current clinical
examination protocols.
